I keep buying both as I still can't decide which I like best after a dozen cans.
When my mom was still with us; frying up the herring and canning them just as she did in the 'Old Country' (of Germany) there was nothing better. Since I didn't pay enough read moreattention to the process I had to find a substitute after she passed on. It's been 6 years and now every time I crack open either the RugenFisch or Alstertor Brathering remembering the wonderful times, usually Sundays, with my dad and brothers fighting over the last morsels even as mom told us she'd go grab another jar.
Mom's was best but RugenFisch and Alstertor Brathering do come in close to first place.
And the personal service by Judy when you have a question plus the fast shipping and great prices make it that much more of a great snack or meal.
