Abba Klassic Matjes has a classic spicy taste and is a favorite in our range. Classic Matjes contains herring (Clupea harengus) of the highest quality, which is caught in the Northeast Atlantic and only from viable stocks. 

The herring matures in barrels with a layer of spices in our rock cave in Kungshamn on the west coast of Bohuslän until it tastes its best and is ready to enjoy! 

Boiled herring has its place at midsummer celebrations or is eaten pure with fresh potatoes, sour cream, chives and a little brown butter.
